Buckinghamshire Freemasons Support Florence Nightingale Midnight Walk
On Saturday night, approximately 400 walkers took to the streets of Aylesbury to participate in the Midnight Walk, the charity's largest annual fundraising event.
A team of 54 volunteer marshals once again signed up to support the event under the leadership of Lee Buckingham, helping to ensure the safety and confidence of participants throughout the evening.
Buckinghamshire Freemasons are proud to have been involved since the event's inception in 2010. At each Midnight Walk, volunteer marshals are stationed at key locations along the route, providing guidance and support to walkers taking part in either the 5-mile or 10-mile challenge.
Over the years, there have been 13 Midnight Walks and two "Not The Midnight Walks". During this time, Buckinghamshire Freemasons have contributed significantly to the success of the event with marshalling, with approximate statistics showing:
* 700 marshals involved
* 8,000 walkers supported
* More than 5,000 volunteer hours given
Most importantly, this flagship fundraising event has now raised in excess of £1 million for the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, a truly fantastic achievement that has helped support vital hospice care services across the local community.
Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has contributed to the success of this remarkable event over the past 16 years.
A comment from the charity:
"The Midnight Walk is much more than just a fundraising event. For many participants, it is an opportunity to remember and honour loved ones, reflect on cherished memories, and support the hospice so that we can continue providing compassionate care to patients and families when they need it most. By volunteering your time, you helped create a meaningful and memorable experience for everyone involved, for that, we thank you all"
